What BH10 does to a young driver’s premium
A typical first car in BH10 works out at £1,337/yr to insure at 19 — about 39% cheaper than our London anchor. These are estimates built from public data, not quotes.
Median across our group 1–15 first cars, scaled from the London anchor to BH10. The same figure the risk map’s panel shows for this district.
Rank counts from the cheapest district. The base-profile figure is the risk model’s own reference driver — a settled adult, not a young one — which is why it sits below the age-scaled figures above; only the ratio between districts feeds the young-driver numbers, so the reference profile cancels out. The median GB district is £460/yr on that same profile.
BH10 is 16 of 26 districts in the BH postcode area, counting from the cheapest. The cheapest is BH31 at £685/yr; the dearest is BH5 at £2,187/yr. This is a postcode-area grouping, not a map of which districts border which — we don’t hold boundary data, so we don’t claim it.
At age 19. Showing the cheapest and dearest few in the area plus the districts either side of BH10 in that ranking — not the full list of 26.
How this figure is worked out
We take the median annual premium across our group 1–15 first cars for a driver of that age in London, then scale it by what the risk model says BH10 does to a premium relative to the same London anchor. It is the identical calculation the risk map’s panel runs, so the two surfaces cannot disagree about BH10.
The risk score behind the scaling comes entirely from open data — Open data: police.uk, Police Scotland, DfT, ONS, NRS, MHCLG/WG/SG. Neighbourhood features are ranked within comparable groups, combined into a relative risk index, and calibrated against published car-insurance price indices — R² 0.9304 across 106 anchor areas (model db4916b65f99, calibrated 2026-07-18).
A district figure is a whole-district typical. BH10 spans many neighbourhoods, and the map paints each of them separately at street level, so your own road can sit above or below the number on this page. Your car, your history and your exact address move a real quote far more than a district average does.
These are estimates based on public data, not quotes, and Vouched does not give insurance advice. When you’re ready to buy, we introduce you to authorised providers for a real quote.
Heads-up: Market update (27 July 2026): two major insurer groups — including the cheapest black-box provider in most of our data — left the comparison panel we calibrate against, and cheapest quotes for young drivers rose roughly 50%. Our estimates now track this new, higher market. If those insurers return, real quotes could come in below the range shown — get a real quote before you budget.
